Episode 9: Why did Airbnb produce a feature-length documentary?

In episode 9 of the Clever Content Podcast, we were joined by our Head of Video, Richard Tissington to talk about Airbnb’s foray into the world of filmmaking.

The company behind the world’s largest online marketplace for home-sharing and tourism experiences has produced a documentary called Gay Chorus Deep South. Currently doing the film festival circuit, Airbnb says the project aligns with its values as a company and is a response to the political environment in the US.

In the show, we talk about how this documentary – and the genre in general – could be a great tool for telling stories that fit with a company brand.

In the second part of this episode, we quiz Rich on what happens once a client has said that they want us to produce a video. We talk about the importance of a pre-production process and getting to the bottom of what the client is really looking for. Hopefully, you’ll find a few useful nuggets of advice in there.

Every episode comes with a list of links to all of the articles, videos and topics that we talk about on the show.
