Episode 24: Facebook in your living room?

Episode 24 of the Clever Content Podcast is ready for your earholes. Iain and Tom are joined by special guest, Jess Peace from Rise at Seven, to talk about the new Portal TV device from Facebook as well as the word content itself.

Would you like to video chat through Facebook or WhatsApp through your tellybox? That’s what the new Portal TV allows you to do along with a few other features, including Instagram-style AR games and group watching content on Facebook Watch.

If you use Facebook a lot, you might find that tempting. But is it enough to make you forget about the privacy concerns that come along with using Facebook these days? It’s fair to say we’re not entirely convinced.

In the second half of the show we go on to look at the word ‘content’ itself. The top bods at PayPal have decided the term is ‘overused’ and instead they’re going for ‘brandcurrency’ instead. Crikey, eh?

We talk about what the word content means to us and how its usage has changed over the years. And by the end of the episode, we’ve just about decided maybe it’s not so bad after all!

That’s it. Go get those headphones. Pop them on or in. Relax. Enjoy.

Every episode comes with a list of links to all of the articles, videos and topics that we talk about on the show.
